Coahuila Deputy Sergio Zenón Proposes Disability Inclusion Reform for Science and Technology

State Deputy Sergio Zenón Velázquez Vázquez presented a reform bill to amend Articles 1 and 18 of Coahuila’s Law on Science, Technological Development and Innovation. The proposal aims to remove barriers so that people with disabilities can actively contribute to scientific and technological projects, ensuring accessible environments, reasonable adjustments and inclusive technologies.

The deputy emphasized that the reform “seeks to guarantee full and effective participation in conditions of equality” for persons with disabilities, arguing that the current lack of accessibility not only creates inequality but also deprives the state of valuable talent and knowledge. If enacted, the law would promote accessible settings, the incorporation of reasonable accommodations, and the development of inclusive technologies to improve autonomy and quality of life.
