Coahuila electoral authorities open registration for candidates and observers

The National Electoral Institute (INE) has opened the registration period for individuals seeking to run as independent candidates for federal deputy positions in Coahuila. Interested parties must submit a manifestation of intent to their respective district boards by December 13. Requirements include forming a civil association composed of at least three people, including a candidate, a legal representative, and a resource administrator, as well as providing a tax ID (RFC) and a dedicated bank account for financial oversight.

Simultaneously, the Coahuila Electoral Institute (IEC) is promoting the call for electoral observers for the 2026-2027 concurrent electoral process. This program allows citizens to monitor the preparation and development of election days to increase transparency. As of October 6, 372 individuals and organizations have expressed interest. Accredited observers can monitor traditional polling stations as well as early voting and voting for persons in preventive detention. Applications can be submitted in person or online, including for Coahuilans residing abroad.
