Coahuila Electoral Institute presents book on women in politics

The Electoral Institute of Coahuila (IEC) hosted the presentation of “Habitar el poder: Mujeres en clave política” (Inhabiting Power: Women in Political Key), a collective work featuring the reflections and experiences of 15 women from the fields of politics, academia, and social activism in Mexico.

Senator Cecilia Guadiana Mandujano, a co-author of the book, emphasized that female political participation must go beyond merely occupying public offices; it should aim to transform institutions and reduce obstacles for future generations. The publication seeks to document the challenges women face in decision-making roles and preserve their contributions to the country's history.

Electoral Counselor Leticia Bravo Ostos noted that the book's release in October coincides with the 73rd anniversary of the constitutional recognition of women's right to vote and hold office in Mexico. The presentation highlighted the historical transformation of Mexican democracy, noting recent milestones such as the election of the first female president of Mexico and the election of 14 female municipal leaders in Coahuila in 2024.
