Coahuila Governor launches $300 million disability aid program

Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and DIF Coahuila president Liliana Salinas Valdés unveiled the "Veamos la Discapacidad" initiative, allocating roughly 300 million pesos to support people with disabilities throughout the state. Each beneficiary will receive an annual cash grant of 10,000 pesos transferred to a bank card; the first installment of 5,000 pesos for the first half‑year has already been deposited. The program initially targets 544 individuals in the southeast region.

In parallel, the administration will add 46 new UNEDIF adapted‑transport units to improve mobility for persons with disabilities across all regions of Coahuila. The broader strategy includes modernising rehabilitation centres, expanding autism services, and strengthening orthotics and prosthetics, alongside providing access to the Popular Health Card for those without formal health coverage. The governor described the measures as part of a comprehensive effort to boost inclusion, economic opportunity and quality of life for the state's most vulnerable citizens.
