Coahuila governor says candidates have full security protection during local elections

State Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas affirmed that all local deputy candidates in Coahuila have guaranteed security for campaign activities. He described the only recent incident in the municipality of San Pedro as an internal dispute between politicians, noting that the State Attorney General’s Office dismissed the alleged femicide attempt involving Morena deputy Delia Hernández and UDC representative Edgar Sánchez. The governor said the matter was reviewed in a monthly security meeting attended by electoral and security authorities, and that the state's indicators for safety had improved.

Meanwhile, Mayra Valdés, the state secretary for women, reported that there have been no formal complaints of gender‑based political violence since the campaign began. She emphasized the state's zero‑tolerance policy, the readiness of institutions to respond to any incidents, and the importance of safeguarding women’s political participation.

Both officials highlighted coordinated efforts among the Institute of Electoral Services, the National Electoral Institute, the armed forces, and other state agencies to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
