Social safety and regulation initiatives in Colombia and Mexico

Various social and safety initiatives are being addressed across Latin America. In Bogotá, Colombia, the District Secretary of Education has activated an integral attention route following reports of alleged abuse involving minors at a school in the Usme district. Authorities are investigating the matter while providing support to the affected families and students.

In Mexico, Coahuila authorities are addressing rising school and domestic violence. Liliana Salinas Valdés of DIF Coahuila is promoting the ‘Impulsores de la Paz’ program, which aims to foster respect and empathy in workplaces and schools to rebuild social fabric. Meanwhile, the Coahuila Congress is collaborating with civil society to develop protocols for regulating Artificial Intelligence to prevent its misuse for criminal activities.

Mental health efforts are also expanding. In Sinaloa, the DIF system conducted workshops for specialized personnel on suicide risk evaluation and management protocols. Additionally, the Centro Poblacional de Salud Mental Integral (CEPOSAMI) held conferences focused on recognizing suicide warning signs and strengthening community support networks.
