Coahuila legislators propose municipal police reviews and neighborhood advisory services
In Coahuila, local legislators have introduced several points of agreement aimed at improving municipal governance and community stability. Deputy Angélica Patricia Alvarado Juárez has called upon municipal governments to conduct extraordinary reviews of their local police forces. This initiative seeks to evaluate institutional and operational conditions, focusing on professionalization, certification, equipment, and response capacity in coordination with state and federal security agencies.
Additionally, Alvarado proposed that the State Secretariat of Public Education incorporate uniform criteria for emergency communication and response procedures within both public and private basic education institutions.
Separately, Deputy Gerardo Aguado presented a proposal urging the 38 municipalities of Coahuila to provide advisory services to residents of gated communities and neighborhoods. The goal is to prevent neighbor disputes regarding maintenance fees, security, infrastructure, and common area usage. Aguado noted that while state law allows for the formation of neighborhood committees and internal regulations, many citizens lack the guidance necessary to legally constitute assemblies or formalize agreements.
