In Coahuila, authorities are investigating a major animal cruelty case involving the Fundación Frichem in Castaños. Following the discovery of dozens of dogs in critical health conditions, including severe malnutrition and infestations, the State Attorney General's Office is pursuing charges. A caretaker, Juan “N”, is in preventive detention, while the legal representative, Lizbeth “N”, is also facing investigation. The case has prompted discussions in the Coahuila Congress regarding penal reforms to increase prison sentences for crimes against sentient beings.
Separately, in Oaxaca de Juárez, officials from the State Water Commission for Wellbeing (Ceabien) announced plans to increase water supply in the Metropolitan Zone to 1,000 liters per second by the end of 2026, aiming to eliminate scheduled water rationing.
