Monclova manages budget cuts and expands educational infrastructure
Monclova Mayor Carlos Villarreal Pérez reported that a reduction in federal funding has impacted the municipality's finances by approximately 9 to 10 million pesos. To mitigate this, the city is relying on strong local revenue collection from property taxes and service fees.
In response to regional needs, the administration is also advancing projects to expand upper secondary education infrastructure. Four potential sites, including La Ribera and Colinas, are being coordinated with the Secretary of Education and the Coahuila Institute of Physical Educational Infrastructure to prevent future school saturation.
Additionally, DIF Coahuila and local authorities in Monclova facilitated the activation of cochlear implants for three minors from the Centro-Desierto region to address hearing disabilities. The initiative was supported by a 50,000 peso donation from the Santiago de la Monclova Rotary Club.
