Coahuila proposes penalties for parents allowing minors to drive motorcycles

A legislative initiative in Coahuila seeks to penalize parents or guardians who allow minors to operate motorcycles without a valid license or permit. The proposal, introduced by Deputy Delia Hernández Alvarado of the Morena party, aims to amend Article 211 Bis of the State Penal Code.

Under the proposed reform, adults who facilitate such driving could face fines and prison sentences ranging from six months to three years. The initiative is intended as a preventive measure to reduce accidents involving minors and ensure adult responsibility. Additionally, the proposal suggests that minors involved in such situations may be referred to the Procuraduría para Niños, Niñas y la Familia (PRONNIF) for protection.
