Coahuila ranks first in Mexico for perceived security

Coahuila has reached the first place in Mexico for perceived security, according to the ENVIPE 2026 survey. The state reported that 71.5% of its population feels safe, an increase from the 43.3% recorded in 2021. This figure places Coahuila ahead of Yucatán and the national average.

Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas attributes this progress to the ‘Modelo Coahuila,’ a strategy built on four pillars: prevention, proximity, intelligence, and force. The government has allocated over 8 billion pesos for infrastructure and equipment for the State Police, Mexican Army, Navy, and National Guard. Additional investments include the State Video Intelligence System and enhanced highway security.

In Saltillo, local officials, including Mayor Javier Díaz González, highlighted that the city is also recognized as the safest capital in the country. The security strategy emphasizes coordination between different levels of government, the armed forces, and civil society, including the use of community communication tools like WhatsApp groups to bolster local vigilance.
