Coahuila ranks 4th in Mexico's 2026 State Competitiveness Index
The 2026 State Competitiveness Index (ICE) released by the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO) highlights varying performance levels across Mexican states.
Coahuila secured fourth place nationally with a high level of competitiveness. Key strengths identified include its export vocation—ranking second nationally in exports as a percentage of GDP at 100.3 percent—as well as its productive structure, labor market conditions, and security indicators, such as low rates of homicide and vehicle theft.
Tlaxcala achieved third place nationally in the Political System and Governments sub-index, noted for its management of public finances and zero percent state debt relative to total income. Tlaxcala also showed improvements in infrastructure, internet access, and labor market participation.
Tabasco showed a slight improvement, moving from 25th to 24th place nationally, with noted progress in investment, exports, and education indicators.
