Coahuila ranks second lowest homicide rate in Mexico, governor credits security strategy

According to INEGI's 2025 data, Coahuila recorded the second‑lowest homicide rate per 100,000 inhabitants among Mexico’s 32 states. Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas highlighted the result as evidence that the coordinated security model is working.

The governor said the model relies on daily meetings of the State Security Table that include the Mexican Army, Navy, National Guard, State Police, and both state and federal prosecutors. He noted recent investments such as new police and army barracks, security arches, an expanded video‑surveillance system and tactical units. The State Security and Justice Conference, chaired by Attorney General Federico Fernández Montañez, reviewed these indicators and the improved perception of safety, which the administration says is attracting further investment to the region.
