Coahuila region reports 20 suicides this year, expands mental‑health services

Around 20 self‑inflicted deaths have been recorded in Coahuila’s Centro region so far this year, with ten cases in Monclova and the remainder spread across San Buenaventura, Nadadores, Castaños and Frontera. State health officials, led by Dr. Faustino Aguilar Arocha, said the surge has prompted a reinforcement of mental‑health care, adding psychologists to health‑center teams and deploying tele‑medicine links to specialists in Saltillo.

The government, through DIF Coahuila and the Secretaría de Salud, has also launched mobile routes of psychologists to reach both urban and rural clinics, aiming to provide timely emotional support and prevent further crises. Authorities continue to urge families and friends to watch for warning signs and seek professional help promptly.
