Coahuila removes illegal surveillance cameras amid Saltillo security operations

The State Attorney General of Coahuila, Federico Fernández Montañez, announced that more than 60 irregularly installed video‑surveillance devices, described as “parasite cameras,” have been seized and removed from public posts, plazas and buildings in Saltillo and surrounding municipalities. The cameras, whose owners remain unidentified, were found mainly in areas linked to drug‑trafficking activity and are believed to have been used to monitor police movements.

At the same time, Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz González led a coordinated patrol operation in the La Minita and El Tanquecito neighborhoods, deploying security forces to enhance public safety. Díaz emphasized the city’s ongoing security strategy, backed by Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas, and noted an investment of 1.1 billion pesos this year for equipment, professionalisation and infrastructure. The patrols form part of a broader effort that includes previous operations in other Saltillo districts.
