Coahuila security perception boosts tourism and investment
Positive perceptions of security in Coahuila are driving significant growth in both the tourism and investment sectors. In the hospitality industry, the state reported approximately 1.45 million visitors and sales of roughly 1.55 billion pesos, with an average hotel occupancy rate of 68.8 percent. High occupancy rates were noted in destinations such as Parras, Arteaga, and Saltillo, with security being a decisive factor for families traveling from neighboring states like Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
Simultaneously, the state's security environment is being cited as a key competitive advantage for attracting new industrial investments. Marco Antonio del Prete Tercero, president of the Mexican Association of Economic Development Secretaries, noted that Coahuila stands out as one of the safest states in Mexico, providing the certainty and facilitating government necessary for manufacturing and industrial projects. There are also ongoing discussions regarding collaboration between Coahuila and Querétaro to strengthen the semiconductor industry through the exchange of best practices and technical knowledge.
