Coahuila state government meets teachers' unions and calls for political unity after elections

The government of the Mexican state of Coahuila, represented by Secretary of Government Oscar Pimentel González and Secretary of Education Emanuel Garza Fishburn, met with the leaders of SNTE sections 5, 35 and 38. The meeting reaffirmed the administration’s recognition of the unions’ legitimacy, agreed to route all teachers’ requests through the legally constituted union bodies, and established permanent work tables to monitor and respond to educators’ demands.

Following the recent state legislative elections, Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas addressed a press conference, urging all political forces to set aside differences and work together for the state’s future. He highlighted a peaceful voting day with a 51 % turnout, stating, “Ayer (domingo) vivimos una gran fiesta democrática, un proceso electoral en paz y tranquilidad…” and emphasized that unity, work and good governance would continue to improve quality of life in Coahuila.
