Coahuila targets $500 million in semiconductor investments
The state of Coahuila is working to attract up to $500 million in investments for the semiconductor industry. According to State Economy Secretary Luis Olivares, the initial strategy focuses on attracting packaging and testing processes, with the potential to move into more specialized stages in the future.
To consolidate this sector and diversify the local economy, the state must address critical challenges, including water availability, energy capacity, and infrastructure. While some private industrial parks offer their own electrical infrastructure, water supply remains a decisive factor for finalizing investments. Regional distribution of projects is being considered for the Frontera, Laguna, Centro, and Sureste regions, with areas like Arteaga and Derramadero noted for their industrial park availability.
