Coahuila youth invited to Catrinas and Catrines runway

The Coahuila Institute of Youth (Icojuve) has opened registration for the third edition of the “Recordar es de Gigantes 2026” Catrinas and Catrines runway. The event is scheduled for November 5 at La Madriguera Casa del Adolescente in Saltillo.

Targeting youth aged 12 to 29 from any municipality in Coahuila, the competition encourages participants to use Catrina or Catrin characterizations to help preserve Mexican traditions during the Day of the Dead celebrations. A total prize pool of 28,000 pesos has been established, with 10,000 pesos awarded to first place, 7,000 to second, and 5,000 to third, alongside two honorable mentions.

Registration remains open until October 30. Icojuve head Iván Terashima Zamora and local deputy Marimar Treviño Garza emphasized that involving younger generations is essential for maintaining the country's cultural expressions and traditional festivities.
