Coalición Canaria seeks nationalist alliance for upcoming elections

Coalición Canaria (CC) is working to expand a unity agreement across the Canary Islands to prepare for the general elections scheduled for November 29. Following a recent pact in Gran Canaria with Municipalistas Primero Canarias and approximately twenty other organizations, CC is now seeking to include Lanzarote-based parties, including Compromiso por Haría, Yaiza Siempre, and Movimiento Renovador de Tinajo.

Pedro San Ginés, the island secretary for CC, has called on Óscar Noda, president of Unidos por Yaiza (UPY), to join the process. The alliance aims to present a joint candidacy to defend regional interests in state institutions, with Teodoro Sosa leading the list for the Congress of Deputies. For the Senate, the group intends to reach a consensus on an independent candidate.

In a separate statement, CC candidate Cristina Valido emphasized the party's autonomy from the PSOE and PP, stating that CC will prioritize Canary Islands' interests over the bipartisan conflict. Valido also warned that the future of free public transport in the islands may be at risk under the next government and advocated for the convergence of nationalist forces to ensure a strong regional voice in national politics.
