Coalition Avenir Québec pledges to fund second IVF attempt

The Christine Fréchette Team of the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) has pledged to expand public coverage for in vitro fertilization (IVF) in Quebec. The proposal involves an annual investment of approximately $40 million to fund a second IVF attempt for eligible residents.

Currently, the Quebec public health system covers one complete IVF cycle and most associated medications. The new commitment aims to ensure that the failure of a first attempt does not force individuals to choose between significant personal expense or abandoning their efforts to start a family. Under this plan, a second cycle would be covered under the same modalities as the current program, including ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, laboratory fertilization, and embryo transfer.
