Coalition of the Willing to meet in Kyiv regarding Ukraine security

The Coalition of the Willing is scheduled to hold a hybrid meeting in Kyiv on Monday to coincide with the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence from the Soviet Union. The meeting will be co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also participating.

Key objectives of the meeting include reaffirming support for Kyiv and advancing security guarantees intended to foster lasting peace in the event of a ceasefire. Leaders also plan to discuss coordinated measures to curtail resources supporting Russia’s war efforts, specifically targeting ‘shadow fleet’ vessels used to circumvent EU sanctions. The group consists of 34 countries that have pledged support to Ukraine since the full-scale invasion.
