Chile and Costa Rica prepare for national holiday festivities
Various cultural celebrations and safety warnings have emerged ahead of national holidays in Chile and Costa Rica.
In Chile, the organization COANIQUEM has issued safety recommendations to prevent burns during traditional family barbecues. Statistics show that 78% of burns treated by the institution occur at home, with 52% of patients being children under five. Experts advise maintaining a one-meter safety zone around grills and avoiding flammable liquids like alcohol or gasoline to prevent explosions.
Chilean musical institutions are also organizing events to honor national heritage. The Orquesta de Cámara de Chile and BAFONA will perform in the Valparaíso region, while the Universidad de O’Higgins will present the “Chile en Partituras” concert series in Rancagua, Graneros, and Machalí to highlight national composers.
In Costa Rica, Pérez Zeledón is hosting a Civic Week featuring marimba performances, poetry recitals, and folk dancing. Similarly, in Heredia, the Paseo de las Flores shopping center will host festivities including a concert by the group Malpaís, traditional dances, and the emblematic lantern parade to celebrate independence.
