Coast Guard edges UNE in college football season opener

In Maine college football season openers, Coast Guard secured a 49-35 victory over the University of New England (UNE) in New London, Connecticut. After UNE took a 35-34 lead via a field goal, Coast Guard blocked a punt to set up a go-ahead touchdown by quarterback Sean Burns. UNE quarterback Chris Lang recorded 285 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Damien Jones contributed 119 rushing yards.

Framingham State defeated Husson 33-21 in Bangor. Michael Marcucella led the Rams with 380 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and two rushing scores. Mathias Fowler added 193 receiving yards on six catches.

Mass. Maritime shut out Maine Maritime 49-0 in Bourne, Massachusetts. The Buccaneers' rushing attack totaled 479 yards, led by John Dickinson with 112 yards and Dylan Taylor with two touchdowns.
