Coast Guard rescues sea turtle entangled in fishing net

The Italian Coast Guard rescued a Caretta-Caretta sea turtle in distress near Casarza, Vasto, following a report from a bystander. The approximately 50-centimeter turtle was found entangled in a fishing net, which prevented it from swimming.

After being brought aboard the GC B14 vessel, the animal was assessed by veterinary services from the local ASL. Finding no injuries or wounds, authorities proceeded to release the turtle back into its natural habitat. This operation is part of a broader environmental safeguarding initiative involving cooperation between the Coast Guard, local municipalities, and cetacean study centers to protect endangered marine species from human-related threats.
