Coast Guard rescues seven people after boat sinks near Parghelia

Seven people were rescued from the sea off the coast of Parghelia after their boat began taking on water on Friday evening. The occupants were forced to abandon the vessel and jump into the sea.

The Coast Guard of Vibo Valentia responded to the emergency using a new SAR patrol boat. All seven individuals were recovered from the water and provided with initial medical assistance. They were subsequently transported to the port of Vibo Marina, where medical personnel evaluated them.

The vessel was secured and moved to the port of Tropea to prevent potential environmental damage from a sinking.
