Coastal development projects face legal and administrative processes in Croatia and Slovenia
Investors for the Marina Resort Cavtat project in Croatia have defended the development as a legal and transparent initiative. The project was designated as a strategic investment project by the Croatian Government in June 2022, a status reserved for developments meeting specific economic and developmental criteria, including tourism. Investors state the project aligns with Croatia’s Sustainable Tourism Development Strategy through 2030 and is being conducted in accordance with all spatial, legal, and administrative regulations.
In Slovenia, the Agraria cooperative is preparing to rebuild its commercial facility in Lucija following a devastating fire in December 2024. While the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning rejected an appeal against the construction permit, the process remains in a transitional phase as the window for administrative disputes has not yet expired. The cooperative is currently finalizing implementation documentation and preparing for the selection of a contractor, though market fluctuations and legal delays have made a definitive construction timeline difficult to establish.
