Coastal regions issue safety alerts for swells and rip currents

Authorities in several coastal regions are issuing safety warnings and enhancing emergency resources due to hazardous maritime conditions and seismic concerns.

In La Línea de la Concepción, Spain, strong rip currents and high tides have prompted an extension of lifeguard services until 21:00 hours. Officials warned that waves exceeding one meter could cause strong undertows, particularly during high tide.

In Oaxaca, Mexico, the municipality of Santa María Tonameca issued alerts regarding swell phenomena, advising tourists and residents to avoid swimming and to secure nautical equipment. Meanwhile, the government of Huatulco invested over 500,000 pesos in new medical and rescue equipment for paramedics and lifeguards to improve emergency response capabilities.

Additionally, the State Coordination for Civil Protection and Risk Management in Oaxaca addressed social media rumors regarding imminent large-scale earthquakes. Officials clarified that earthquakes cannot be predicted and urged the public to rely on official channels and maintain permanent prevention plans rather than unverified information.
