Coastal Spanish towns launch summer music festivals with open‑air concerts
The Sociedad Musical La Lira de l’Alfàs del Pi opened the municipal cultural programme Estiu Festiu 2026 with a large open‑air concert at the Ancla del Racó de l’Albir. Hundreds of spectators enjoyed a repertoire that included famous film scores, international pop hits and symphonic band works, highlighted by a piano rendition of James Horner’s “Legends of Passion” performed by soloist Marina Barco Ferrer. Cultural councilor Manuel Casado praised the event as an excellent start to a free, high‑quality summer programme.
In Algeciras, the duo La Plazuela performed at the Cabaret Festival, presenting a fusion of Andalusian tradition and contemporary urban styles. Their set, which blends flamenco, funk, soul, pop, hip‑hop and electronic elements, attracted an enthusiastic audience and showcased material from their 2023 album Roneo Funk Club. Both concerts form part of Spain’s broader summer cultural offerings in coastal municipalities.
