Coastal tourism grows in Puerto Colombia and Progreso

Coastal tourism and commerce are seeing growth in Puerto Colombia and Progreso through infrastructure improvements and cruise arrivals.

In Puerto Colombia, the Gobernación del Atlántico has implemented beach management projects at Playa Pescadores and Playa Miramar. These interventions, including a $5,000 million investment in Playa Pescadores, aim to integrate artisanal fishing, gastronomy, and sports. Governor Eduardo Verano stated the projects are designed to reorganize the local economy and provide a complete tourist experience with new amenities like gastronomic zones and a skatepark.

In Progreso, the arrival of the cruise ship Breeze, carrying 3,889 passengers and 1,382 crew members, has boosted local sales. Visitors engaged in activities such as beach services, water sports, and dining along the boardwalk. Local merchants noted that cruise days provide essential commercial support following the end of the high vacation season.
