Mexico water infrastructure and cultural celebrations
Various regions in Mexico are implementing water management projects and celebrating Day of the Dead traditions. In Baja California Sur, the El Novillo dam construction has reached 15 percent progress, aiming to secure water for 300,000 residents in La Paz. Additionally, Conagua has announced plans to dredge the Mezcalapa River in Tabasco starting in January 2027 to prevent erosion and protect local communities.
In Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, local authorities are conducting dredging operations in the Nueva Calzadas canal to mitigate flood risks after a decade of inactivity. The city is also hosting cultural events, including the “Miradas al más allá” art exhibition and historical tours of the Panteón Antiguo Municipal to honor local figures.
Other cultural observances include the “Veracruz Vive el Día de Muertos” contest in Veracruz and the presentation of the “Altar Mestizo” in Centro, Tabasco, which features indigenous elements and traditional regional foods.
