Coatzacoalcos man found dead, investigation launched

A 53‑year‑old man identified as Francisco Rodríguez Cancino was discovered without signs of life in the patio of his home in the 1 de Mayo neighbourhood of Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. He was seated on a plastic chair with a puncture‑type wound on his right hand. Police and volunteers found empty liquor bottles and glasses, indicating he had been drinking with at least three other people the night before. Neighbours noted that his father had recently died and left the house to him, raising a possible inheritance dispute. State police cordoned the area while the Fiscalía General del Estado opened a criminal investigation and sent the body to the Servicio Médico Forense for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
