COBAANA begins construction on dialysis centre in Sunyani
Construction has commenced on a new dialysis-focused medical centre in Sunyani, Ghana, aimed at serving residents of the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo regions. The project is being led by the Council of Bono and Ahafo Associations of North America (COBAANA), a diaspora organization based in North America.
Currently, patients requiring renal care in these regions must travel long distances to access dialysis, often resulting in high costs and delayed treatment. Dr. Degraft Gyan K. Kwafor, Chairman of COBAANA, stated that the facility is intended to reduce deaths linked to delayed care, ease financial burdens on families, and create jobs for healthcare professionals.
The initiative was highlighted during COBAANA’s 17th Annual Convention in Chicago, Illinois. The private company Doormaster has joined the effort as a corporate backer, with CEO Kodjo Botchway serving as co-chairman of the Dialysis Treatment Center Project.
