Cobalt blue bellflower ceramic bowl from Graf von Henneberg
The Freilichtmuseum Roscheider Hof features a cobalt blue ceramic bowl decorated with painted bellflowers. The oval-shaped piece has a wavy edge that creates a delicate, six-petaled floral form.
The central motif consists of stylized, hanging bellflowers with fine, light contour lines and color accents in light blue, soft green, and muted orange/red. The bowl is identified as a product of the Ilmenau porcelain factory ‘Graf von Henneberg’ from Thuringia.
Based on the bottom stamp, which includes the ‘Germany’ designation and a specific version of the ‘Graf von Henneberg’ name, the piece likely dates to the late 1930s or early 1940s. The inscription ‘Echt Kobalt’ certifies the use of genuine cobalt oxide for the deep blue background.
