Colombia deploys 5,000 rescue personnel following earthquake
Following a devastating earthquake in Colombia, more than 5,000 members of the public forces and emergency services have been deployed to lead search and rescue operations in the hardest-hit areas.
Integrated operational blocks including the National Navy, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police, and the National Army are coordinating with the Civil Defense and the Red Cross. Military engineers have been mobilized to critical zones to locate individuals trapped under collapsed structures using heavy machinery, drones, and precision technology.
Rescue efforts are concentrated in high-complexity locations such as Cali, Quibdó, Armenia, Pereira, and Manizales. Specialized urban rescue units and canine guides are being utilized to find signs of life beneath debris. Additionally, the Air Force is transporting essential medical supplies and personnel to isolated departments.
