Cobreloa leads Primera B as Sporting Cristal wins Copa de la Liga semifinal
In Chilean football, Cobreloa has claimed the top spot in Primera B following a 1-0 victory over Santiago Wanderers in Calama. The decisive goal was scored by Yastin Navarro in the 88th minute. The match was marked by tension, including the red cards of Dylan Portilla and Martín Villarroel for Wanderers, and an obscene gesture by Villarroel toward fans upon his dismissal. Cobreloa now leads the table with 45 points, one ahead of Wanderers.
In the Copa Chile, several teams have advanced to the quarter-finals. O’Higgins secured their place by defeating Deportes Santa Cruz with a 5-2 aggregate score. Deportes Antofagasta also progressed after a 4-1 win over Deportes Iquique, while Deportes Concepción moved forward following a victory over Curicó Unido. Meanwhile, Colo Colo is preparing for a high-profile quarter-final match against Deportes Puerto Montt, which has been authorized for a 9,000-spectator capacity despite recent controversies regarding ticket pricing.
In Peru, Sporting Cristal took a significant step toward the Copa de la Liga 2026 final by defeating ADT 1-0 in the first leg of the semifinals. Gabriel Santana scored the only goal in the 14th minute. Sporting Cristal managed to defend their lead in the high altitude of Tarma, supported by a strong performance from goalkeeper Diego Enríquez.
