Coc Sam Steppe in Lao Cai attracts tourists with scenic landscapes

The Coc Sam Steppe, located in Bao Nhai commune, Lao Cai province, is gaining popularity as a scenic destination for camping and outdoor activities. Situated approximately 300 km from Hanoi at an altitude of nearly 900 meters above sea level, the 10-hectare area features rolling hills covered in lush green grass, creating landscapes that many visitors compare to European scenery.

Historically used by locals for grazing livestock and by horsemen for training before traditional races in Bac Ha, the steppe has recently seen increased social media visibility. The area is considered suitable for hiking, photography, and camping, particularly during sunrise and sunset. While the location is accessible via Provincial Road 153, local authorities are working to improve the transport infrastructure to support growing tourism in the Bao Nhai area.
