Coca-Cola ABASA expands Zacapa plant in Guatemala

Coca-Cola ABASA has inaugurated the expansion and modernization of its production plant in Río Hondo, Zacapa, Guatemala. The project represents an accumulated investment exceeding US$160 million since 2023.

The expansion includes more than 130,000 square meters of new infrastructure and four new production lines. These lines are dedicated to PET bottles, personal and family-sized presentations, returnable glass containers, and cans. This development is expected to quintuple the company's production capacity in Guatemala, strengthening its ability to supply both the national market and the wider region.

Economically, the project has utilized more than US$53 million for local purchases and services, with over 70% of contractors being Guatemalan companies. The expansion also impacts employment, with the company currently generating over 790 direct jobs and approximately 200 indirect jobs. The inauguration ceremony included the participation of Guatemalan President Bernardo Arévalo.
