Coca-Cola ABASA invests over US$160 million to expand Guatemala plant

Coca-Cola ABASA has completed a major expansion and modernization of its production plant in Río Hondo, Zacapa, Guatemala. The project represents a cumulative investment exceeding US$160 million since 2023.

The expansion includes more than 130,000 square meters of new infrastructure and four new production lines. These lines will focus on PET bottles for personal and family sizes, returnable glass containers, and cans. This development is expected to quintuple the company’s production capacity in the country, strengthening supply for both the local Guatemalan market and the broader region.

More than 70% of the suppliers involved in the project were Guatemalan companies, with over US$53 million of the investment directed toward local goods and services. The plant currently supports over 790 direct jobs and approximately 200 indirect jobs.
