Coca-Cola reconsiders sale of Costa Coffee
Coca-Cola is reportedly revisiting plans to divest Costa Coffee after an earlier attempt to sell the British coffee chain failed to meet valuation expectations. The beverage giant originally acquired the chain from Whitbread in 2018 for approximately $5.1 billion as part of a strategy to diversify its portfolio beyond carbonated soft drinks.
An earlier divestment process was suspended earlier this year because bids from private equity firms were lower than anticipated. Additionally, a potential strategic buyer reportedly declined to proceed due to valuation concerns and strategic alignment issues. Coca-Cola is now evaluating various options, including renewed interest from both strategic investors and private equity funds.
