Coca-Cola resolves price dispute with German retailers

Coca-Cola has reached an agreement with German retailer Edeka, effectively ending a price dispute that led to supply shortages in supermarkets. This settlement follows previous agreements between the beverage giant and other major retailers, including Rewe, Aldi, and Kaufland.

The conflict originated from a decision by Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Deutschland to increase prices for much of its product range by approximately three percent on September 1. The company cited necessary investments in production, logistics, market development, and improved working conditions and wages at its German locations as the reasons for the hike.

In response to the price increases, several retail chains initially implemented order freezes, resulting in visible gaps on shelves for products such as Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, and Mezzo Mix. Negotiations were reportedly particularly difficult with the Edeka Group. With the resolution, the manufacturer confirmed it is now supplying all retailers, and product availability is expected to return to normal.
