Spain drug statistics reveal major seizure shifts in Andalusia and Galicia
The 2025 Annual Drug Statistics released by the Center for Intelligence against Terrorism and Organized Crime (CITCO) reveal significant shifts in drug trafficking and seizure patterns across Spain.
Andalusia remains a primary hub for narcotics, accounting for 77% of all hashish seized in the country, with over 198 tons intercepted. The region also captured 33% of Spain's total cocaine, totaling 25 tons. Despite its high volume of seizures, drug-related arrests in Andalusia saw a decline of approximately 22% compared to 2024.
In contrast, Galicia experienced a massive surge in cocaine seizures, which increased by 386% to reach 9.3 tons. A significant portion of this activity is concentrated in A Coruña, where 6.4 tons were seized, representing roughly 8.5% of the national total.
Other notable trends include a fourfold increase in hashish seizures in Castilla y León, surpassing one ton, and the detection of over 461,000 cannabis plants in Andalusia. Authorities also noted an increasing variety of synthetic substances appearing in police statistics, such as ketamine and MDMA.
