Netherlands linked to multiple international drug smuggling busts

A Nigerian man who boarded a train in Amsterdam bound for Salzburg was convicted by a German court to three years in prison after doctors removed 75 drug packets containing roughly 450 g of cocaine and 300 g of heroin from his gastrointestinal tract.

Surinamese authorities intercepted a boat on the Suriname River that was carrying about 1,600 kg of cocaine. Nine Ghanaian nationals on board were arrested, highlighting the route that moves cocaine from South America through West Africa toward Europe.
