Cocaine use rises among Danish youth amid social media sales

There is a rising trend of cocaine use among young people in Odense, Denmark. Local authorities report that drug use has escalated significantly, with many youths using the substance for social purposes at parties and nightlife. Stine Dyrlund Toft, a department head for Odense Municipality’s addiction treatment services, noted that many young people are becoming addicted, though a large number of cases likely go unreported.

Investigations show that cocaine is easily accessible through social media platforms like Snapchat, where users can receive advertisements and purchase drugs quickly. In a demonstration of this accessibility, a reporter was able to contact multiple cocaine sellers via Telegram and Snapchat within an hour.

In response to these challenges, the Conservative Party and Mona Juul have proposed a fund to help high schools combat drug use. The proposal includes providing resources for drug-sniffing dogs and saliva testing to prevent narcotics from entering educational environments.
