Cochabamba agricultural production drops 30% amid blockade threats

The Agricultural Chamber of Cochabamba has reported a nearly 30% decline in production over the last four months. Rolando Morales, president of the entity, attributed this drop to social conflicts and recent unrest.

Producers are expressing concern over threats of road blockades by ‘evista’ sectors, fearing that such actions will worsen economic difficulties, disrupt food supplies, and increase costs for families. Morales noted that these disruptions impact rural employment, poverty levels, and export activities, ultimately threatening food security. The sector has called on the national government to enforce current regulations and prevent planned mobilizations from turning into road blockades.
