Cochabamba candidate faces disqualification over undisclosed conviction

The Special Electoral Jury (JEE) of Huaraz has issued a technical report that threatens the candidacy of Máximo Cuisano Caballero for the district mayoralty of Cochabamba. Representing the Alianza para el Progreso party, Cuisano Caballero reportedly omitted mandatory information in his electoral declaration by failing to disclose a firm judicial sentence for the crime of collusion.

Official records from the Judiciary's Sub-Management of Judicial Registries confirm a finalized conviction against him regarding a case involving the Cochabamba District Municipality. The Supreme Court ratified this conviction on July 9, 2024. Because the omission involves a criminal conviction against public administration, the electoral body is expected to proceed with his exclusion from the municipal election process.
