Cochabamba food prices rise for chicken and vegetables

Food prices for essential items such as chicken and vegetables have risen in the markets of Cochabamba, Bolivia. Merchants attribute these fluctuations to supply and demand dynamics, as well as weather conditions affecting production.

In the Calatayud market, chicken prices reach approximately Bs 18 per kilo, with daily variations of up to Bs 2 depending on availability. Additionally, vegetable prices have increased; tomatoes rose from Bs 15 to Bs 20 per 'cuartilla', and broad beans (haba) increased from Bs 15 to Bs 18. Vendors noted that recent rains have impacted the quality and cost of produce arriving at the markets.
