Cochabamba Mayor proposes new Sacambaya road to La Paz

Cochabamba Mayor Manfred Reyes Villa has called for the resumption of a strategic road project through Sacambaya to connect the Cochabamba valley with the department of La Paz. The proposed route aims to create a new national integration corridor, potentially reducing travel time between the two regions to approximately four hours.

Beyond passenger transport, the project is intended to serve as an economic corridor by facilitating the movement of agricultural and fruit production from Cochabamba's productive zones to markets in La Paz and the western regions. Reyes Villa noted that the initiative dates back to his previous tenure as prefect and emphasized its importance for regional economic and territorial integration.
