Cochabamba prepares for September anniversary and public holiday

The department of Cochabamba, Bolivia, is preparing for its anniversary celebrations in September. A public holiday has been scheduled for Monday, September 14, to commemorate the department's historical identity and its role in the country's independence struggle.

To mark the occasion, the city is undertaking various ornamentation efforts. Gerson Meruvia, head of Public Lighting for the Mayor's Office, announced the installation of 36 illuminated 'sombreros vallunos' (traditional hats) and other decorative elements. These decorations will be placed in strategic locations, including the Plaza 14 de Septiembre, the Cristo de la Concordia, and areas bordering other municipalities.
