Cochin Shipyard and Drydocks World form maritime joint venture
Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) and Drydocks World, a DP World company, have established a 50:50 joint venture to operate and expand the International Ship Repair Facility (ISRF) in Cochin, India.
Signed on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, the agreement formalizes a previous memorandum of understanding. The partnership combines CSL’s domestic engineering capabilities with Drydocks World’s global expertise in complex vessel repairs and offshore engineering. The venture aims to increase capacity for servicing a diverse range of Indian, regional, and international vessels.
This public-private partnership is intended to strengthen India’s position in the global ship-repair market by leveraging its location along major international shipping routes. The expansion is expected to foster a larger maritime-services ecosystem in Kerala, encompassing engineering, fabrication, and skilled employment opportunities.
